Admissions to the College and the Graduate Residence

Choosing a College full of opportunities for a hundreds of talented university students. Admission by qualifications and exams. Recent first-level graduates can also apply for the Graduate Residence (co-ed), open to third-cycle university students.

How to enter the New College

FOR THOSE ENROLLING IN THE FIRST YEAR OF THE THREE-YEAR AND SINGLE-CYCLE MASTER'S DEGREE COURSES

Academic year 2026-27

Access to the Collegio Nuovo is through a public competition. For those who enroll in the 22 free or subsidized places are available for the first year of a three-year or single-cycle master's degree. The admission competition is unified with that of the IUSS Higher University School, of which the College is the founder and institutional partner, and provides two written tests in person and two oral tests remotely. The competition tests will begin on 3 September 2026.

Candidates must apply for admission to the competition both at Collegio Nuovo and at the IUSS Advanced University School:

 

Collegio Nuovo is open to both male and female students; winners of the joint Collegio Nuovo – IUSS competition will be housed in the adjacent Graduate Section, with access to all the College's services (including meals) and participation in the College's cultural program.

FOR THOSE ENROLLING IN TWO-YEAR MASTER'S DEGREE COURSES OR IN YEARS FOLLOWING THE FIRST OF THREE-YEAR AND SINGLE-CYCLE MASTER'S DEGREE COURSES

Academic year 2026-27

The New College puts forward a competition 5 free or subsidized places structured as follows: a) 2 places for female students who enroll to years after the first in Bachelor's or single-cycle Master's degree courses at the University of Pavia. b) 3 places for female students enrolling in first year in two-year master's degree courses at the University of Pavia. The competition, for qualifications and exams, provides for the evaluation of qualifications and an interview, which can be carried out, at the candidates' choice, in person at the Collegio Nuovo or remotely via the online platform. For all candidates, a self-presentation interview (without score) with the Rector and the President of the Commission.

Entering the Graduate Section of the New College

Academic year 2026-27

The Graduate Section of the Collegio Nuovo welcomes around fifty students, including international ones, engaged in their studies. master's degree, PhDs, specialization schools, advanced courses and university masters as well as students from 4th to 6th year of single-cycle degree, recent undergraduates and visiting professors. Positions available for the 2026-27 academic year 12 seats, assigned via competition for titles.

This experience made me discover the different facets of collegiate life, albeit in a different way from how I would have experienced it as a graduate student; it also allowed me to improve my knowledge of English (with the courses organized by the College), it gave me the opportunity to interact with kids from different backgrounds than mine and with inspiring personalities (like the senator and scientist Elena Cattaneo).
