A moment of discussion panel free and open to the publicAlmost a TED talk, this theatrical encounter features students from the New Year sharing ideas and reflections. They begin with their studies, life experiences, and interests, seeking to transcend traditional boundaries between disciplines and propose new connections.
Protagonists of CoNnect 2026 they are the new ones Maryangel O. Anayochukwu, Matilde S. Del Canto, Rebecca Lemma, Ilaria Maccioni, Elena I. Schipor, and Laura Tonni, students of Mathematics, Physics, Bioengineering, Archaeology, and Literature.
They will talk about the female presence in scientific studies (Elena Ionela Schipor, Mathematics: “The Divas of Mathematics: Beyond the Numbers”), of the sense of belonging to peoples and nations (Ilaria Maccioni, The Ancient Mediterranean World. History, Archeology and Art"I Don't Feel Italian: Self-Awareness and Representation of Peoples and Individuals”), of the concept of identity suggested by the video game Disco Elysium, which has its central nucleus in the loss and search for identity (Matilde Sofia Del Canto, Physical Sciences: “Disco Elysium: Rebuilding Identity from Amnesia”). And then other reflections: on the link between mathematics and psychoanalysis (Rebecca Anna Lemma, Mathematics: “The Topology of the Self: How Mathematics Saves Us from Labels”), on the search for identity of second-generation Italians (Maryangel Oyinyechi Anayochukwu, Bioengineering: “Identity across cultures: the complexity of defining oneself”), on the most iconic cinematographic and musical examples dedicated to the theme (Laura Tonni, Letters: “Human: Identity from Bergman's film to Marracash's album”). Two hours of show/meeting during which there will be plenty of time for questions and audience involvement.
