The story of the "president of the Italians" told by himself. Solferino 2025) and the screening of a film illustrating the personal and political journey of the exiled, clandestine, and imprisoned fighter, his contacts with Turati, Rosselli, and Gramsci; his profound faith in freedom, which cannot exist without social justice; his roles after the Liberation and the birth of the Republic (he participated in the Constituent Assembly), his leadership of "Avanti!" and "Lavoro Nuovo," up until his rise to the highest offices of the state, during crucial periods. He was elected Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in 1968 and, ten years later—in the aftermath of the assassination of Christian Democrat President Aldo Moro by the Red Brigades—President of the Republic—"of all Italians," he would specify in his inaugural speech—gaining a broad consensus, the broadest ever recorded.
