Paola Bernardi, Rector of the Collegio Nuovo-Fondazione Sandra e Enea Mattei, attended the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Ochanomizu University in Tokyo.

An international occasion which, with the motto “bridging to the future”, summarizes the cultural and international openness of Ochanomizu University, presided over by Yasuko Sasaki and committed for 150 years to the education of women and the training of new leaders.

Since 1875, Ochanomizu University has been Japan's oldest national women's university. It was also the first to welcome international students in the early 1900s. Since then, it has continued to strive to empower women to become global leaders and achieve academic excellence, fostering innovation for a better society.

Guests of honor at the ceremony, alongside Rector Paola Bernardi, included the President of the University of Strasbourg, Frédérique Berrod, the Minister of Education of Japan, Yohei Matsumoto, and the President of the Japan Association of State Universities, Teruo Fujii. In 2013, Ochanomizu University and Collegio Nuovo established a valuable partnership based on the shared mission of educating and developing talented young women academics, regardless of geographic, religious, social, or economic boundaries.
