Collegio Nuovo was the first female college in Pavia to have opened a men's section, respecting what was the original project, before the Founder, due to the economic crisis of the Seventies, had to scale down the implementation of the project and would therefore, with foresight, choose to support the growing female wave in accessing university studies. At the turn of the millennium, therefore, the Sandra and Enea Mattei Foundation built a co-ed residence, for a total of 50 places, all financially subsidized. The building is located in the same area of the College, at the center of the scientific and biomedical center of the University of Pavia.
Surrounded by a large garden with internal parking, the Residence is made up of 48 modern and bright accommodations, two of which can house two people. The ensuite apartments are fully furnished, equipped with a kitchenette, private bathroom, air conditioning and wi-fi. The guests of the Graduate Residence have free access to all the College facilities for study, meeting and sports, including a rich library, a gym with fitness room, as well as outdoor tennis and football courts. To complement the specialized university training, the College offers transversal cultural activities, part of which is also held in the classrooms on the top floor of the building itself.
Students enrolled from the IV to VI year of the long cycle degree or in Masters and recent master's degree graduates (including international students) enrolled in Medical Specialty Schools, Master's, and Doctoral programs can access it upon special competition by qualifications. Quite a few students of the College who, once graduated and engaged in Specialty Schools or Doctorates, decide to move to the Section to extend their collegiate experience with further independence. The competition is also open to recent three-year graduates enrolled in master's degrees at the University of Pavia, even international ones. The community mainly includes students in the biomedical and scientific-technological areas and is characterized by a marked internationality.
Economic benefits
For a place in one of the accommodations (room, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette and access to the sports facilities and the Library of the College) the contribution for the entire year (academic year 2025-26) amounts to €7.200 (for a semester: €3.900). For shorter periods €700 per month.
The annual announcement includes some reserved seats to Alumnae of the College.
The possibilities of taking advantage of INPS discounted places also remain open.
The Graduate Residence can also host Post-Doc Researchers, Scholars and University Professors, from Italy and all over the world.
