ICE BREAKING ACTIVITIES: LA VOCE DELLE NUOVINE (IN PIENA SESSIONE DI ESAMI)
Sabrina: L’incontro è iniziato con una loro presentazione: molto piacevole, non solo per le modalità (un power point e un fascicolo stampato!) ma anche per gli oggetti fisici che ci avevano portato. Una ragazza, ad esempio, con la passione per la scrittura degli ideogrammi, ci ha mostrato il pennino e l’inchiostro con cui faceva le gare di scrittura; Hana, appassionata di tè matcha, ci ha preparato sul momento del tè con dei dolcetti. 
L’attività è proseguita con la suddivisione in due squadre miste e con la costruzione di castelli di fogli di carta. Una sola regola: usare fogli di carta e forbici per costruire un castello che fosse più alto di quello dell’altra squadra. Ahimè, la mia squadra è risultata perdente, ma questo non ci ha impedito di farci una foto tutte insieme di fronte alla nostra costruzione!
Elena: Io mi sono aggiunta al secondo giorno della loro permanenza, Oltre a raccontarci di posti da visitare (Izumi, studentessa di geografia, ci ha parlato del Tempio Kinkakuji), abbiamo parlato anche di studio: infatti una delle studentesse studia Matematica al secondo anno come me. Alla fine dell’incontro una delle nostre ospiti ci ha regalato dei fermagli per i capelli creati insieme a sua madre: il mio lo uso ancora adesso come portafortuna.
Sabrina ed Elena: L’ultima sera, infine, abbiamo deciso di ricambiare il favore dell’ice-breaking e di fare un’ultima sorpresa alle nostre ospiti e al loro professore. Ci siamo organizzate: alcune hanno fatto il tiramisù, e Sara ha anche portato il limoncello fatto in casa!
Abbiamo ringraziato le ragazze per le belle giornate passate insieme, sperando che la loro esperienza in Italia sia stata positiva. E dalla loro reazione, abbiamo fatto centro!

LA VOCE DELLE STUDENTESSE DI OCHANOMIZU UNIVERSITY
On the first day, students, teachers and staff warmly welcomed us. Through the ice-breaking session, I found what kind of leadership they had and felt their sense of solidarity. They were all working toward a common goal and no one was left behind. In the lectures by prof. Farao, we gained new insights about leadership above all. We also visited three female leaders in Italy. I found that all of them had clear vision, passion, and resilience, which are essential for leaders. I believe this experience will certainly become a life asset. I will apply the experience to the future. Amo il Collegio Nuovo! Lo ringrazio di cuore. – Mayu Honda
When I visited Professor Alessandra Balduini, I was most impressed by the way she manages her laboratory, by the way talks to each person according to their individual characteristics. I had never seen a laboratory in the Department of Mathematics, so I had not really grasped the concept of leadership among researchers until now, but when I saw a large-scale laboratory for the first time, I finally understood that leadership is necessary to unite people with so many different specialties. I have never been involved in full-scale research: I think that in order to make new discoveries and developments, it is necessary to live in an atmosphere where all members feel free to express what they have noticed or come up with. – Nanami Masuda
The students were so kind that they always helped us during our stay. Some of them will come to Japan this summer, so I am looking forward to seeing them . I’m hoping that this program will continue for years. – Moeka Mizobe
